Easy to lift: our Gen70xx powerhouse

This is Alexander, who, as a member of the design department, is playing a key role in the development of the small machine. He is clearly delighted with the low weight of our smallest unit at 29 kg, which is remarkable for a stationary drive unit with a continuous electrical output of 1.2 kW. However, the generator module scores highly with several outstanding features in terms of robustness, maintenance requirements, efficiency and versatility.

With its innovative generator modules, Frauscher Motors is sending a clear signal in the field of nano and micro CHP technology. The robust and quiet units form the core element for the use of a wide variety of energy sources. In addition to the most common applications with natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas and biogas, Frauscher supports its customers with solutions for hydrogen, pyrolysis gas, ammonia, pellets, wood chips and, increasingly, new heat sources such as thermal batteries or pico nuclear technology.

Alphagamma® technology: lots of electricity from heat

It couldn’t be simpler: “The most important interface between the heat source and the generator module is the heat exchanger, which we adapt to the type of energy source. As soon as the temperature reaches a sufficient level, the three-phase generator used as a starter motor starts the robust, lubricant-free motor, and after just a few moments, charging current flows into the storage battery,” says Josef Frauscher, managing director of the company. He continues: ‘With 24/7 operation, we can easily cover the energy requirements of an average single-family home, which, ideally in combination with a PV system, gains a comfortable position in energy supply.’

For demonstration and testing purposes, Frauscher Motors has integrated the alphagamma® Stirling generator modules into nano CHP units. These are tested on test benches in continuous operation and serve in particular to verify the continuous running characteristics, noise emissions and maintenance-free operation over a period of 10,000 hours.
