For well over a century now, humans have been using internal combustion engines. Without any doubt, Otto- and Diesel engines have contributed substantially to the generally greatest advance in the standard of living in the recent history of industrialisation. However, engine technology with internal combustion will reach its limits if the quality of the fuels doesn´t match the requirements of the engine. The technology restricts the scope of application of the engines largely to the use of highly processed, primarily fossil fuels. In addition, more recent findings show that compliance with emission regulations can only be achieved with a high or additional expenditure.
For reasons of protecting the environment and natural resources, frauscher thermal motors decided to conduct research on stationary engines with external combustion. We know that atmospheric combustion provides comparatively the best conditions for high exhaust quality. The potential for using economical biogenic fuels opens one of several market niches with particularly high environmental relevance – the clean disposal of gases containing methane or other waste fuels along with the extraction of valuable energy in the form of electricity and low-temperature heat. The excellent test results of our fagatec® engines ensure a good start in further field trials with different fuel qualities.
